inspiration...lap shelving

If you ever have the chance to visit the Design Within Reach store in River North neighborhood of Chicago, please do! The space is just as amazing as the furniture, okay, I think it is a bit more amazing! The Tree Studio building was created to be an artists colony back in 1894. It is just room after room of amazing wood work, large windows, high ceilings and views of a gorgeous courtyard.

But I digress!

My favorite piece of the day was the Lap Shelving system. So simple and versatile and has a bit of character that can mix into any modern space. Eliminating redundancy, the designer Marina Bautier, simply just removed the shelf where not needed, making the tray or box part of the frame.

Great for a child's play room and definitely something they can grow into and take with them one day to university.
